John Creger Trainings for Deepened Learning
My classroom career has taught me that deepening students’ engagement begins with our willingness to change our existing mindsets about curriculum and instruction.
Training 1:
Solve the Engagement Problem: Nourish Your Students Academically AND Developmentally
This training introduces methods for teachers who wish to design courses and curriculum intentionally to equip their students to master academic standards in a classroom environment of shared self-discovery.
Training 2:
Build Relationships (and Start Classroom Community) with Kids at the Edges
This session invites us to develop a new mindset in our classroom instruction aimed at building relationships with students, particularly marginalized students of color and others at the edges of our classrooms.
About the Trainings: Deepened Learning in the Pandemic Recovery
Dear Colleague,
The 2022-23 school year, the last in my classroom career, turned out to be the second year of what we can call the ongoing pandemic recovery.
It took some doing to engage and focus my sophomores as they returned to school after the months of distance learning. To create a trusting learning community I needed to pull out all the stops. I wound up drawing on the most potent approaches I’d learned and developed across my 35 years as a teacher-researcher and 25 as a presenter-trainer. What worked most successfully during these two years made me see clearly that the pandemic recovery is a chance for us to provide our students approaches and experiences that involve them more deeply in learning than we have traditionally done.
I’ve created two trainings to help teachers develop mindsets and explore methods that will enable them to plan and deliver learning that will matter more to students than traditional approaches as we emerge from the effects of the pandemic.
My classroom career has taught me that deepening students’ engagement begins with our willingness to change our existing mindsets about curriculum and instruction. I hope my trainings help inspire and equip you, my colleagues in classrooms and administrative teams, to begin or continue on this journey.
Both trainings include followup and assessment.
